To Orangewalk

2019 July 8 – from Chetumal

Northern Belize is hot and boring. Although not without some interesting places. We started off from Chetumal not super early. Not planning on doing a lot of distance. And here the route would be slightly moderated by some Caribbean breeze in one spot. Not to mention it’s the rainy season. So later afternoon showers predominate.

Nor too far from Orange Walk we were hit with one. We were just taking a brief break and we could see the rain approaching the town. We rode towards it looking for shelter. Just as it hit we saw a small house with a front porch just off the road. We scurried down and asked the woman if she minded if we stayed under the porch while waiting for the downpour to pass.

Not only did she agree she served us lemonade. As you can see from the picture we’d have been totally drenched in about 30 seconds.
